This type of prose can go good or bad for me, depending on the delivery of it.. I need a good balance of inner monologue and dialogue.. But I prefer to see what's happening and not always being told at every turn what's going on as well.. Also too much set up surface stuff in a story, can kill the book for me too.. Which is why I'm also not a big fan of slow burn books either.. I try to avoid slow burn reads as much as possible.
