I would have originally read this book in 1993. Because of the very lovely "1/2" chapter, I've always remembered this book with a lot of fondness.
I'm not particularly enjoying it... re-reading it in 2026.

Rereading this after possibly 30 years. Chap 1, the woodworms giving their account of how the Noah and the Ark story really went , feels like it is (or was) trying too hard to be clever.
