Still in the Silver Age, I love how action is conveyed. Everything, even the space-age technology, is so analog. Doom flashes back to how he last escaped the Fantastic Four and it's literally him just jumping out a window. So quaint, so verbose, so charming. Stan Lee very much puts the "teller" in storyteller, but boy could he use those yellow boxes to sell a comic mag. I also love when they draw Doom with a mouth.

Daredevil gets an implicit power-boost whenever he's written by Stan Lee, since all the characters describe whatever's happening out loud at all times.
Big fan of Doom's origin, genuinely would watch an entire movie of this byronic anti-hero conning his way across Europe before accidentally blowing his own face up and becoming an evil emperor.
Crazy moment finding the exact panel that inspired Special Herbs.

This issue of ASM is so great. Doom interrupts Ed Sullivan to show that he plans to execute Spider-Man within the hour and Aunt May basically goes "oh thank god he's going to kill that awful Spider-Man". Either Doom or Spidey or both are on nearly every page of this thing and halfway through Stan comes in going "WE KNOW THIS IS BORING BUT BEAR WITH US THIS FIGHT IS GONNA BE CRAZY", old comics didn't waste any time.

Loving the tone of these Lee/Kirby stories so far. Shit just happens. Doom's first appearance and he puts a net over the Baxter Building so he can send Reed, Johnny, and Ben back in time to steal Blackbeard's treasure. Brilliant stuff.
