A fascinating read. Eric Williams argument is convincing if flawed. For me he places too much emphasis on Britains imperial and economic prosperity on the triangular trade. But the argument that slavery was and is too narrowly defined by race is intriguing. Arguing that racism was a consequence of slavery and not the other way around. I also agree with his argument that slavery was abolished when financially viable.
