This is my reading challenge book for August. I started a day early because I finished the curious incident of the dog in the night-time early. So far I’m thinking the quality of description is already better than in Stalingrad.

Letter from a Ukrainian grandmother to her son back in Russia. The Germans put her in a ghetto and she believes she is going to die soon. There’s some talking between Russian officers over promotions and how even the children of Party leaders are fighting in the war.
