I think this is going to be a fun hate read. Natalie is so perfectly unlikable.

I think it's a real skill to write someone so thoroughly dislikable that I actually want to keep reading about

Hannah Turley You are the first of my friends to read this so I’ll be interested to find out what you ultimately think of the book. I do enjoy a good fun hate read, but there ended up being *too* much for me to hate, and other things that made it more depressing than enjoyable.

Sarah Honestly, I avoided it at first because I usually don't enjoy a hate read. This is why one of my friends and I disagree greatly on Tom Perrotta. She thinks his books are great and while I don't disagree that he's a good writer, I don't enjoy reading a book where everyone is kinda awful and we're just supposed to be okay with that.

Unfortunately, given my profession, I hear all the buzz, and sometimes curiosity gets the best of me. This is how I ended up reading Yellowface and, no matter how that book made me feel (I'm still very conflicted), it was a thoroughly engaging experience, so I'm hoping I at least get that from Yesteryear.
