Interesting that the author switches to 3rd person when a disaster has happened. Presumably it’s to maintain suspense. Not sure works. It’s very jarring. And since the book keeps going, he’s presumably not dead. Seems forced.
While I’m listing negatives - feels like a missed opportunity to explore what the loneliness would do. But then, it’s not that kind of book.

I was saved partly because of what I represent - progress, science, and the interplanetary future we’ve dreamt of for decades. But really it’s because every human being has a basic instinct to help each other out…..yes there are assholes who just don’t care, but they are massively outnumbered by the people who do.

Amazing how weir created tension given all the science, and the seemingly plausible disasters that took place.

I like the switching to NASA occasionally, though I found the. Chapter going back to when the a. Ident happened confusing. On the one hand it was necessary and I appreciate diving in to the story with no preamble, but it was jarring.
