Reading this because one of my favorite subcontractors wanted me to. A little worried that it will try to act like the minority of black people who were able to gain government positions make up for the majority that faced the monstrosities of the time. Or to even act like that the men like Frederick Douglas were treated like equals by everyone. Trying to keep an open mind, but I’m afraid.
