Where has Isabel Cañas been all my life?? This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Been taking breaks between reading cause I don’t want it to end so soon.

If Silvia Moreno-Garcia is a genius, then Isabel Cañas is a GOD. From the lush prose to the setting rich with culture and history, this everything I wanted Mexican Gothic to be. It asks, what is autonomy in a land ravaged by colonialism? What horrors are to be found not only in our shared violent past but also in the restrictive and oppressive present we find ourselves in? Ugh, I never want this book to end.

Oh, I already know this one is going to be a banger!!
