Lady Caroline started to see something in Mr. Briggs, the owner of San Salvatore. The beauty of the place had a lasting effect on everyone.

Rose's own experience was that goodness, the state of being good, was only reached with difficulty and pain.

Mrs. Fisher restless. She feels that she is burgeoning or growing. She wants to talk to someone about her situation. She does not know who to turn. Mr. Wilkins plans on approaching her about her restlessness.

The description on the gardens and tress are breathing taking in this novel. Since the novel was written in 1922, the wording is classic; therefore, it reading and looking up words. The language is rich.

Mr. Wilkins has arrived in San Salvatore. He and Mrs. Wilkins are getting along spliendly. Mr. Wilkins sees Mrs. Wilkins, Lotty, has having some use finally in his life. She has made acquaintances with Lady Caroline and Mrs. Fisher both lady with means and money who may need services as solicitor. Mrs. Wilkins thinks that it is San Salvatore that has changed Mr. Wilkins.

Quote:

Yet the four visitors, while their bodies sat - that was Mrs Fisher's - or lay - that was Lady Caroline's - or loitered - that was Mrs Arbuthnot's - or went in solitude up into the hills - that was Mrs Wilkins's - were anything but torpid really.
