judy is really annoying tbh…i think they were trying to make her quirky in an endearing way but it’s not giving. her asking reza if he’s naked behind the locker is not something you ask a complete stranger. ik they said she didn’t mean to say it out loud but i don’t believe that. imo that crosses the “awkward but cute first interaction” line. also her “joke” with reza living in countries that start with T was so stupid it’s not even funny. i also didn’t like how she’d constantly snap at reza in order to “protect” art from homophobes. mind you, reza never said or did anything wrong, judy just jump the gun and made assumptions about reza for no reason.
my overall issue with judy tho is the fact that she’s not giving reza an opportunity to just be her friend. as soon as she spots him she’s like “he’s so hot i HAVE to have him before the skinny girls get him.” like relax??? it’s okay to think he’s cute but trying to date him when you barely know his name is crazy. now reza feels like he has to date her in order to keep her and art in his circle. and i also feel like judy’s eagerness isn’t fair to art. art and reza attraction to each other develops naturally. they meet, they find each other cute, but don’t immediately act on it, they become acquainted, THEN they have a moment and realize they may be attracted to each other beyond looks. but since judy already has a claim on reza, art can’t event explore his feelings with reza. mind you, it hasn’t even been a week yet.
lowkey im wondering if the book made judy annoying on purpose so we wouldn’t feel bad about art and reza potentially crossing boundaries.
