Wow I’m literally playing the movie in my head and realizing how much of it was lies. Mr Tanaka, the neighbor wasn’t even a real person. Tanaka was her family name—her noble family’s name. MOAG was literally poverty porn—Mineko was born to noble, titled families and CHOSE to be a geisha. Hollywood continues to be Hollywood…

I think I’m gonna have to change my rating on Memoirs of a Geisha when I get done with Mineko Iwasaki’s book; two seconds in and I’m finding out her origin story in the other book AND the movie is a lie!
