Been trying to read classic poetry for a while but it seemed pointless compared to classic philosophy. After 10 pages of Vico it was as if I was hit by lightning and I immediately understood how to read classic poetry - obviously it is pre-philosophy, philologically and etymologically prior. This I always looked down upon, imagining it or be worse. Vico makes fascinating arguments for their relative divinity instead.
