Fun fact: I read this years ago because of the author's last name. As I recall, the walk starts in Union, Missouri, which is a few miles from my childhood homes. I emailed the author to see if we were related. She responded that her husband didn't think so. She chose "Union" for the starting point because there was a lot of "disagreement" in the story.
