As a Black woman in my 40s who grew up IN the city of Pittsburgh, I find this memoir to be disingenuous and incredible. As racist as Pittsburgh and Allegheny County are there is absolutely no way she didn’t know she wasn’t Black. Her child pictures make it clear she can’t even pass.
