My star crossed lovers trope, my beloved <3

For now, I'm thinking to rate this 3.5 rounded to 4 cause the plot and the characters are way too complicated to be put in a short story even though Proulx's writing is very dense and she can say a lot in a few pages.I wish this book were longer to fully embrace and explore the characters before (something like 100 pages)

They are heartless and heartful at the same time. They fucked in the first 15 pages and married (someone else) and had 2 kids in the first 20.

Annie Proulx definitely knows how to write; it is even a bit too fast-paced for me, but is totally understandable to fit a novella under sixty pages.
