And there goes Troy. Much slaying of everyone in myriad ways. It was good day to be Antenor and be able to call in the favor of having put up the Greek princes last they were in town. Not a good day to be Hector’s baby Astyanax

Cassandra and Laocoön the only ones who see it coming… is Odysseus embarrassed waiting inside the house that they guessed the plot so precisely? Perhaps thematically what’s important is that Troy falls not (really) by Greek scheme but by intimation and their own ignorance

Talk about emotional whiplash, Oenone. 🙄

Neoptolemus kicking ass and taking names, despite quality smack-talk from the Trojan princes. Zeus finally agrees to let this war end, though it will be four more chapters of death beforehand

Huzzah. Achilles’ son Neoptolemus is a welcome burst of youthful energy to the bedraggled Greeks. Yet still doesn’t slay Eurypylus in just one chapter. Which is great because we can barely keep track of the characters at this point

Way to break the mold: Eurypylus doesn’t rise and die in a single chapter. And talks some good smack too 👏🏻

Yo. If Achilles dies in the third book, what’s supposed to happen in the remaining 13? Honestly he may be mad if his funeral / subsequent revelries don’t last as long as those for Patroclus or Hector. Since Thetus got Zeus to make Achilles a demi-god, does that mean we’d get an Achilles-Apollo rematch??

Todd has launched us straight into the Fall of Troy, written by a single author 1000 years after Homer’s compilation of The Iliad. In the narrator’s words… Greek fan fiction. 😆 This translation is more archaic than what we recently listened to, so it took some time to adjust. Odd accent choices for character voices 😅
