I am NOT liking this. The protagonist is the least compelling thing on the planet. An entire chapter dedicated to her fascination with microbial life but so far she is completely unable to engage with any of the other scientists in ANY meaningful way.

Everything is dumbed down to her (to make it easy for the reader), and she has NO intellectual questions. nothing.
