Funny passage on hungary and polands use of xenophobia despite not attracting immigrants. Less funny passage about attempts at breaking down institutions (EU, courts, modifying constitutions) in the pursuit of revolutionary politics motivated by nostalgia and practices through deception that is enabled by the engineered distrust of institutions and the idea of universal truth.

Interesting global perspective on how multinational right wing alliances have formed by focussing on real and imagined uniting threats (progressivism, Islam, feminism etc), and how orban acts as a model on establishing an authoritarian grip of institutions such as the media.

Interesting hypothesis as to a motivation for British euro skepticism and Eastern European anti westernness. For the British, there is a trauma of loss of empire, a nostalgia for the power we once had, causing an inability to come to terms with the new global order and necessity for European collaboration rather than British exceptionalism. For the post colonial victims, resentment and inferiority complex.
