These short books are never as good as the detailed stories of authors like Joan Johnston or Lorraine Heath. This one is pretty good with a different story line than I've encountered before. The writing just isn't ultra-compelling for some reason. Will probably read the second in the series. I would say it will get 4 stars, but is a 4-star-minus. LOL
