The authors birth experience was harrowing (and similar to what I experienced during my own child’s birth); it’s the first moment that I began to root for her. Maternal mortality in the U.S. is well known to me (I had my baby in 2006), and I’ve been keenly aware of just how poorly women are treated by the medical establishment as a whole, but THIS story is upsetting AF. She should write a book about it!
