I am a hater of the catcher in the rye only because of dude bros interpretation of the themes of the original book. I think that if I reread it as an adult I would appreciate it more than I did as a teenager.

I also think that I have a better understanding of the complexities of masculinity as a performance and an appreciation of unlikable characters that I didn’t have when I was 15, especially unlikable MALE characters.
