I'm worried I'm uncultured

I'm not not enjoying myself because it's overly flowery or I don't understand the language, it's just that the same several descriptions for the same "shocking" sexual acts get tiresome. if I wanted to read erotica for erotica's sake I would be disappointed. I enjoy her style of writing but like the rest of what was coming out in the 70s in the erotic literature genre was much more stimulating (pun intended).

I want to enjoy this so badly because its anais nin but good lord I am bored to tears by this, the erotica is so repetitive and the language is both incredibly vulgar and also vague I wish it were less flowery and more straightforward but I suppose this is erotica for academics and I am not the intended audience. I have been underlining words I'm unfamiliar with, hopefully if anything this will further my vocabulary
