Started this in the middle of the night after a very disappointing read. I am trying to work out what makes Lahiri’s writing so immersive. The settings are not extraordinary, there’s no world building, or some profound new philosophical angle. Yet, her books are profoundly life changing; reading her work makes me feel more alive, more aware of the world and myself.
