Having read one person’s account of Babi Yar is worth the whole book. It is a shame we only have time in life for mostly a survey if history - what happened, when, and where. The personal stories “make history come alive”, yes, but more importantly give a wider lens through which see the humanity of other people, and to live life in peace with them.
