the 2nd half of the book, composed by the short stories, is so damn good!!! i wish the opening novella had been like the "family" short story. it could've been a 4 stars book! no wonder quid pro quo isn't listed on the author's official page.

i spent three long ass chapters waiting for warrick to come back, only for his appearance to end in the blink of an eye? not great. i wish every author would realise that thillers without personal stakes or emotional involvement are boring as hell. i'm tempted to read a summary + the scenes with warrick and just skip to the short stories 😵💫
