Okay, i had a feeling that presupps are going to be crazy, but Jung starts with the idea that instincts are simultaneously too complex and universal to be a product of individual unconsciousness, hence they must originate from collective unconsciousness. But, really, if you take a cursory excursion into literature on evolution, you'll quickly find out how important behavioral conditioning is, and how ubiquitous it is

Of course, collective is a must for learned behaviour, but it's still up to individual to absorb the information, whether consciously or not. Jung, though, seems to attribute instincts to some metaphysical entity which i find hard too believe. I might be a little too spiritually dead for this....
