That bathhouse scene was weird. I’m tired.

They can’t catch a break! I cannot wait to start reading the next volume! I took a quick look at the chapters and lo and behold the last one is titled “Fragments of Memory” and it can only mean one thing right? Casca is getting her memory back and I can’t wait to see it! I’m so excited now but I know it’ll be horrors and heartbreak and it will destroy me. I’m scared.

The last chapter is exactly what I’ve been waiting for! Guts and his team finally arrived at Elfhelm! But the merrows warned them that time is different on that island. And there was a barrier to turn away trespassers (it was so cool it reminded me so much of The Lost Woods in Zelda) and then after Schierke figured out a way to get past it (which was fun!) a field of magical scarecrows greeted them! Poor things!

And that horse-whisperer, soon revealed to be none other than Daiba was there and add the Bakiraka on top and it’s a recipe for disaster. I thought it’d be a lot more chaotic to be honest but it ended rather quickly. I still am unsure about Raksas. Did he act alone? Or did Griffith order him to assassinate Rickert after he slapped him in front of everyone? I think it’s the former but he’s not above the latter

toward Griffith. Who’d been a leader and a comrade and maybe even a friend to him. Seeing him try to reconcile that with what he’d heard from Guts was great. And I did not expect to see Luca and the girls there! I thought we’d seen the last of them! I’m glad that they’re all alright! But living in such close quarters with Griffith makes me anxious. I don’t like this.

I enjoyed seeing Rickert (and Erica) go to Falconia and see all its wonders despite being anxiously excited about Guts’s journey with the others. Seeing Rickert take in all that’s Griffith accomplished while knowing the sacrifice of the Band of the Hawk was great! Rickert is, unlike the others, knows all about. But not from firsthand experience. And it’s great to see how that affects his actions and feelings

Rickert slapping Griffith was the highlight of this volume. I love him so much!
