A lot of internalized homophobia and a constant reiterating of it is a major pet peeve and turn off for me. I don't want perfect characters, but I want secure characters. Idk, I'm sure relatable for some/many, but it's a turn off for me.

Leah makes me cry. Most of the book is sorta eh, but the scenes with Leah just get to me. Please please please have Jackie adopt her for Tyra or Tyra be able to adopt her or something!!

"The man had a well of patience and love deep inside her, waiting for the right person to tap into it." Was this book like adapted from another to be wlw?

I kinda just wanna be done with this book. Been struggling to finish, and I'm gunna (invested too much time already), but just ready to be done so I can move on.

Nice example of emotional abuse and the effects throughout life. Super relatable and well presented.

"After all, wasn’t that why anyone got a partner—to emphasize the parts of themselves that were good and improve the parts that needed improving? And couldn’t a partner heal the parts of yourself that you thought were beyond repair?" I like this thinking.

Why is it either straight or lesbian? Jackie could've been bisexual with a preference for women because it was set up perfectly with her dating men and women in college, but eh. Maybe it just tied into the homophobia around her growing up like she'd said.
