I just shudder thinking about how 18yo Elizabeth Inchbald ran away from home to London to become an ACTRESS in 1780, with no roles booked and no lodgings

just staying in cheap shady inns, attracting attention of bad men who notice that she's a girl alone

I wish the author would go more into authors' life or into the plot of those novels and its similarity with Austen works.
I like the moralizing (female writers were dismissed and forgotten, and only Austen was allowed to survive) and the book-collector's bits (here's when the book stopped being published)
So just add 30 or so pages of comparisons?

At first I didn't connect with the "book collector's" part of the novel, but I realized that being a book collector, the author has more knowledge on printed editions and that can trace the rise and fall in popularity of these "forgotten" authors.
