Did not enjoy this book as I did Kingslovers others. Found it annoyingly detailed and consumed with the daily trials and tribulations of kid care and living within a limited budget in a poor county. The subject matter feels like a current topic framework on which to hang a story. Feels gimmicky and not truly literary in content or language. Know this isn’t a popular view but it’s mine.
