i have no words.

look, i’m glad we get to learn that Terren was indeed cruel but all the accusations made towards him are NOT true. but goddamn.. this man is beyond saving. like genuinely, there’s NO saving him, if black flag was bad, he’d be even twisted than the term itself. being Wei Yin, having to witness all of that & still keep her composure is so.. makes me want to weep but- oh i’m losing my mind

i’m so sad rn. Maro & Terren deserved better. :( it’s sad because these brothers were INSEPERABLE and yet, it’s the cruel environment that theyre grown into that’s rupturing their bond. it also made me sympathize alot more for Terren and how he might be the way he is because of it. Maro isn’t at fault bcs hes been growing under constant PRESSURE to a T but his frustrations made him do bad things to Terren.

learning about Prince Terren’s history from the POV of Hesin does bring clarity on how the two brothers became distant & ever since Hesin instructed the two to join for a journey, Terren became cruel & unfeeling. according to him, power has corrupted Terren to become the person he is today—but even Wren believed that there must be something more to the story (as i do). consider me SAT henni. the moment i opened the books to see the first line in the 1st chapter i knew it was going to be promising. all the way up to the selection of concubines and Wei Yin’s ascend to the Empress-in-Waiting that happens so sudden? i feel the tensions thrumming through my VEINS as a reader.
