Re-reading along with a student, who requested book recs after having trouble with Harry Potter. Though The Bad Beginning has a higher lexile range (1010L) compared to The Philosopher's Stone (880L), it is a great resource for English learners because of the way Lemony Snicket explains and contextualises difficult vocabulary to make it approachable.
