Huh. I can tell the plot is picking up, but I'm not particularly interested in the whole "defend the city" thing. I hate this sort of thing.

Caedan is definitely getting more interesting, but I hate how he keeps on making these really stupid decisions.

Honestly not that bad, though the characters are still annoying me; the plot is quite well written, if I do say so myself. I will probably finish the first book, since I'm already more than half-way there.

I was really enthralled by all the mysteries, especially at the very beginning; I was really hoping that the mysteries surrounding the characters would be more emphasized, but it wasn't. While I can definitely see what the author was trying to do with the plot, the characters just annoy me. The interactions between them seem more middle-schooler than adult (yes, this is marketed as adult, surprisingly).

I am getting some serious YA vibes from this book
