Sumptuous. It's a real art to be decorous while you're being venomous, but Congreve (and some other Restorationists, such as Sheridan, whom I like and have reviewed) excelled at it. No wonder Swift and Pope shared the same coterie as Congreve. Nice and short, too, thank God.
