Im loving this childhood re-read so far, I’m reminded of how wonderfully Lauren writes - she is not condescending and does not dumb down the world for teen readers - she talks to them as adults and shows life for what it is, complicated and messy.

This is more than just a girly horse book, it’s a story of self discovery & the hardships of life thrust onto the shoulders of a girl too young to comprehend them yet.
