Carville was open from 1894 to 2015, closed to patients and became a museum.
Will go there to visit as soon as it possible.
The national treatment center still exists as an outpatient clinic in baton rouge (ochsner on o’neil)

The site is improving, better facilities more humane treatment, 1910-20s

Finally decided on a site remote and difficult to get to from NO.
The local community did not want them there but felt sorry for them too
Finally the nuns, sisters of charity became the caregivers
