Just read The Great Wall of China before bed. A very entertaining essay from the perspective of a Chinese engineer, philosophizing as to the effectiveness of the wall, who the wall is protecting the people from, the anonymity of those ordering its construction and what would create a population willing to patriotically participate in its formation. Lots of modern parallels for something only 20 pages long

Just Finished Metamorphosis. Loved the many levels of allegory when it comes to the identity of the provider, the burden of sickness and the absurdity of family dynamics. Kafka's delivery of information is incredibly frustrating though as it often feels like he paints images in reverse which often makes it feel like I'm reading double what is already quite lengthy sentences
