The author flips the order of rows in the example with modified deadlock and changes the naming of the rows and columns, this unnecessarily complicates the explanation. I thought top=try and bottom = fail. But he decided to have it the other way around and the notation was not provided.
Never studied game theory, so this is a bit annoying.
