I feel like this book does a better job at criticism of upper class people than Cécile's books. It's better when she compares of grown adults to grown adults. People who actively have the power and maturity to do something with their wealth. Rather than children who like childish things and are being shamed for it.

And how she finds a silent way to communicate with Addy. We also so how her behaviors have an effect on Addy as well. Like how she repeats what her momma says as a lesson to herself

This plot line reads similar to Kit's Surprise, with her secretly saving money to buy her mom a luxury. I feel like momma is my favorite character in these books. It's interesting because it's usually the older sibling or best friend. There are so many little details with her that show a lot about her character. Her reluctance to complain, especially because of how aware she is of their financial situation.
