“It’s possible to be so busy in our secular work or even busy in the Lord’s work, that we have no time to pray. No time to wait on God or get still… And when that happens, there’s danger.”

— A.W. Towzer

“We fixate on resolution, but God is far more interested in our reliance on him while we wait than He is in the end result.”

Loved the analogy of potential disease in coneflowers and how it’s easy to want to leave them because they look beautiful (I know this desire intimately) but how important it is to rip it out immediately otherwise it will inevitably spread to the rest. I’ve seen it both in the garden and in myself. I will not keep sin secret. I will not let it alone to “enjoy” it’s faux beauty for a time. It has to go.

“By sheer grace God will not permit us to live even for a brief period in a dream world… He who loves his dream of a community more than the Christian community itself, becomes a destroyer of the ladder, even though his personal intentions may be ever so honest and earnest and sacrificial.”

“It would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex, and ambition, when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased.”

“God is able to make all Grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work”
