The writing is fabulous. Very evocative and emotional. Helen describes grief and depression really well.
Reading the description of T.H. White was very interesting. It sets the background for Helen's interest in goshawks. Describing her draw to his book is does a good job of explaining how when depressed or grieving we can get obsessed with certain associations that are relevant to our emotions.
