This was some of the most racist section of the book I've read so far. Absolutely abominable and vile. I knew Evelyn was contentious in his racial viewpoints and knew he had a big colonial background in his own personal life, himself, but somehow coming across derogative racial terms like 'coon', 'black booby' and 'ape'; (and the n words) somehow never ceases to amaze me in the worst way. Story's getting good though.

When Marxism manifesto meets mid 20th century colonial travelogue on africa and its politics = im bored out of my mind and gnawing at my knuckles and shredding my hair, proclaiming to the firmament "why oh why, evelyn, doth thou torturest me!? Why!?"

God help me- the abominable French! At first, I was like "nah, I won't bother translating; I'll get the gist." Boy was i wrong! I ended up having to translate lines upon lines of French in Google translate lmao. Why, Evelyn, why!? 😭 at least I understood everything though, which I'm happy about. I feel like at this point, do I even need to add that this story was once again funny af? 😭😹

Why does it always feature something that makes me bust out laughing? 😭 Evelyn, you may be a racist bigot; but at least you're tolerably funny.

Hilarious so far. Witty 1920s-30s flapper-esque humour.
