Why am I reading these Bosch books? Just because I like the TV series. This book is only tedious, not TERRIBLE like some of the others. But it’s not good. The racism and cop-aganda are depressing. The 2 subplots seem unrelated, like it’s 2 episodes of Law & Order shuffled together. The romance is embarrassing, though props to Bosch I guess for being attracted to a woman over 40 🤣

Lots of murky ethics here as Bosch regrets his instinctive rush to save the Monstrous Serial Killer from a victim’s revenge. Like it would have been better all around if the victim had been allowed to strangle his abuser. Ok Mr Author, why didn’t you write it that way?

pretty lame. Lots of “what was the point of THAT?” And the late-in-the-game introduction of a monstrous multi-decade serial killer and his Suburban Dungeon of Horrors, like this could have been material for a book but author couldn’t come up with a plot to contain it so just shuffled it together with the city politics story.

The suicide subplot has ended in a most anticlimactic way, what was the point, I hope there’s another twist brewing
