It’s just me Nasten’ka feels like a tool for the main character instead of an actual character?
It might be just me but she is so stereotypical and is so obvious that she is written by a man . Is literally like a man sees a woman. It’s giving me the ick. I understand that this book was written 200 years ago, but I can’t look past it.

Don’t get me wrong the ending is tragic, but it’s all words and nothing actively charged in the dreamer life, he just yapped a lot but he didn’t do anything. No significant action were done.

This book read in a modern key is fucking hilarious. Yapping, trauma dumping the “who calls first in a relationship” nonsense, daydreaming and a woman clearly “written by a man” (her life highlight is her situationship with a guy who abandoned her). Is not bad just really funny somehow (especially because is meant to be serious and philosophical text).
