Okay, this house is so many layers of haunted
You have the people who were killed during colonization, who haunted Marion, who haunted Cam, who is haunting Jade and Flo, who are fake haunting Jade’s father. And the house is alive. And there are parasite ants

And now we’re doing parasites!

I do love where this is going. I just think it’s giving me the yesteryear energy of doing Everything with its idea instead of just the two-ish best ideas

This might be a little too much haunting at once. I love all these ideas separately, the fake haunting, real haunting, haunted father, haunted food, but they overlap a little strangely to me. It could just be me, though I’ll see how this ends before I make my choice

So: the girls are fake haunting a real haunted house, and the house is also alive. I’ve never heard that before, but I wish them luck

I really like the structure of this page, that’s all

If I highlighted all the lines I thought were interesting, we’d highlight half the book. I still have a few complaints about the supporting cast of characters, but the way the story is told makes up for it in spades, it’s so evocative and almost kind of playful, too, it feels like a teenager describing all this suffering in a real way

Hooooly, this is getting good. Yeah, that scene was a little obviously a ghost sighting snd you’d be out of your head not to think it was, but it was so interesting

The prose and grown on me, this whole chapter has a lovely texture. It’s so immersive with how it portrays the food, the grief, and the joy

I like this scene, too. It feels like a much better breakdown of the main character’s anxiety and her father’s absence than just saying “she’s not mentally well and he abandoned his family”
