Reminding me of: Monty Python and the Holy Grail, A Fine and Private Place by Peter S. Beagle, The Twilight of the Gods by Richard Garnett - and add a smidge of Thorne Smith, Jerome K. Jerome, and James Branch Cabell. This all means I like it. Apparently, anyone named Mervyn, writing in the 1940s, was very talented.

Stopped at my usual coffee shop and read a bit more of this, after visiting a local rare bookstore I had never been to before - The Scribe, over on the Danforth. Did not know the “Taste of the Danforth” event was happening this weekend, and I shy away from crowds - but I’m glad I went. (Local BookTubers, like Infinite Text, must stop alerting me to these places, or I’ll go broke!).

I got tipped off that this book existed, by John Connolly, in that massive anthology of short stories I’m taking forever to get through. (though I love it). Then it turned out to be in a new edition, so I got mine! I guess it’s full of Horror elements, but has a humorous side? I’m gonna find out.
