End of part one! I’m very interested in the story, but I think part of what is holding me back from LOVING this so far is how overly intellectual the MC is. She’s interesting and she’s smart and a scientist, so it tracks, but a lack of meaningful relationships with other characters/dialogue is somewhat isolating to me? and I’m not feeling the emotions. idk. will update later

Long sentences and short chapters! It’s been an enthralling plot but the prose is definitely a more complicated read than my last few books. but so is the way of the booker prize longlist
