To me this trilogy was the equivalence of action slop and as you mentioned: bro fiction. There wasn’t much space for the reader to actually sit with the characters because it was all go go go. Granted I haven’t read the second arc of this series, but I heard it’s leagues better than the first

It def just feels like a fantasy series in space and I also could not connect with any characters cause darrow just would never stfu I swear lol. Ah well onto the next series of my neverending tbr
