Outdated I suspect but excellent.

In the late 19th century about 1,600 ships largely sank in the Atlantic and had their hulls travel with the currents for months largely sunken.

I did some interesting math. If you could drain Lake Michigan with the Gulf Stream current it would completely drain the great lake in less than a minute.
